About the Artist

Michaelin Otis owned Avalon Arts, a teaching studio and gallery in White Bear Lake, MN for 18 years. Now living in Green Valley, AZ, she is represented by Rogoway Turquoise Tortise Gallery, Tubac, AZ and Simon Fine Art Gallery, Tucson, AZ. Her book, "Watercolor for the Fun of It, Painting People" was published by Northlight Books in 2003. She was a contributing author for several other  books , including "Drawing and Painting People, the Essential Guide", "Watercolor for the Fun of It", "Searching for the Artist Within","Watercolor Making Your Mark", and "Splash 9, Watercolor Secrets". She has also been featured in Western Art Collector, Watercolor Magazine, Artist's Magazine and Watercolor Magic.  She has won numerous awards in national juried shows, and is a signature member of the Louisiana Watercolor Society,  the Taos National Watercolor Society and a Silver Signature member of Artists Changing Tomorrow.   She is also a show juror and workshop instructor.  Michaelin has illustrated ten children's books: "Sara Wants to Know', "Handshake with Heaven", "Andy and Pancake", "Farm Country Christmas Eve", and "Farm Country Halloween", "Farm Country Thanksgiving", "Farm Country Picnic". "Whisie",  "Awesome Heros"  and most recently "Trainman". The latter was published by the Autisim and Asberger Publishing Company.   Michaelin and her husband have three children, one of which has autism.
